Inequality Gap Among Atlanta Students May Grow Due To COVID-19 Pandemic

More than seven months will have passed by the time Atlanta students return to in-person schooling. That long of a break, educational experts told GPB News, may further exacerbate the inequality gap between Black and Latino students and their white peers.

Atlanta Police Officer Recovering After Being Struck By ATV

Atlanta police Officer Maximilian Brewer is recovering at Grady Memorial Hospital after being struck by an ATV late Saturday night. Brewer was struck down while helping with traffic control in the downtown Atlanta area during the second night of protesting after the controversial arrest and death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25.

Arrest Data, GBI Analysis Shows Most Protesters From Atlanta Area

Contrary to the remarks made by Atlanta police chief Erika Shields and GBI director Vic Reynolds about the number of people who participated in violent protests over the weekend being from outside Atlanta or the state of Georgia. Arrest data from the Atlanta Police Department and the GBI show a majority of the people who were arrested during the protest and later charged live in the metro Atlanta area.

Breakdown: Data On 82 People Arrested In Atlanta During Racial Unrest

82 of the protesters who were arrested during the first weekend of protests against racial injustice and police brutality in Atlanta were booked in Fulton County jail. As some of the protests became violent leaders some local leaders suggested that most of the people causing the violence were from outside the state of Georgia.
